  • You own your WhatsApp Business Account
  • Meta message fees passed on at cost

01Why official

Cheap QR-code tools cost you your number.

Many “bulk WhatsApp” tools work by scanning a QR code and automating WhatsApp Web. That breaks WhatsApp’s terms, and numbers used this way get banned — along with every customer conversation on them. UpChatz only uses Meta’s official Cloud API.

Allowed by WhatsApp
UpChatz: Yes — Meta’s official Business Platform
QR-code tools: No — violates WhatsApp’s Terms of Service
Risk of number ban
UpChatz: Low, when you message opted-in contacts
QR-code tools: High, often soon after bulk sending starts
Phone must stay online
UpChatz: No — runs entirely in the cloud
QR-code tools: Yes — a phone or browser session must stay connected
Templates & buttons
UpChatz: Approved templates, quick replies, call-to-action buttons
QR-code tools: Plain text that imitates a person typing
Delivery & read status
UpChatz: Real-time events from Meta
QR-code tools: Guessed from the web interface, often wrong
Verified business badge
UpChatz: Eligible to apply
QR-code tools: Not possible
What it really costs
UpChatz: Plan price + Meta’s published per-message fees
QR-code tools: Looks cheap — until the number is lost

02How it works

From sign-up to first message in one afternoon.

No developer account, no API keys to copy, no waiting on a sales call. Setup runs through Meta’s official Embedded Signup, so your number is connected the way Meta intends.

  1. 012 min

    Create your workspace

Sign up with your email, name your business and invite the teammates who will reply to customers.

  2. 02~5 min

    Connect WhatsApp with Meta

Click “Connect WhatsApp”. Meta’s secure popup walks you through your business portfolio, phone number and a one-time code.

  3. 03Same day

    Add contacts & templates

Import opted-in contacts from CSV and create message templates. Meta usually reviews templates within minutes.

  4. 04Ongoing

    Send, schedule, automate

Launch campaigns, schedule reminders, set up auto-replies and answer every response from the shared inbox.

What happens when you hit send

Every message passes through UpChatz and Meta’s WhatsApp Cloud API before it reaches your customer. Meta then reports its status back, so you can see what was delivered and read.

  1. 01Your business

Send a campaign from the dashboard, or trigger a single message from your own system through the API.

  2. 02UpChatz

Checks opt-in, template approval and your messaging limit, then queues the send and paces it for you.

  3. 03WhatsApp Cloud API

Meta’s official platform accepts the message and delivers it to the customer’s WhatsApp.

  4. 04Customer’s phone

The message arrives in WhatsApp. Sent, delivered and read statuses flow back to your dashboard.

Read status is only reported when the customer has read receipts turned on in WhatsApp.

What happens when you click “Connect WhatsApp”

Meta’s Embedded Signup opens in a secure popup. You sign in with Facebook directly on Meta — UpChatz never sees your password — and give our app permission to send messages for your WhatsApp Business Account. You can remove that permission at any time from Meta Business settings.

What UpChatz receives

  • Your WhatsApp Business Account ID
  • The phone number ID you selected
  • An access token to send messages for you — stored encrypted

03One order, start to finish

From first message to delivered order.

Follow a sample order at Sharma Sweets: the campaign that starts it, the chat where the buyer shops and pays, and the alert that gets it shipped.

  1. Campaign

An approved template reaches opted-in buyers

Sharma Sweets sends its Diwali offer to contacts who opted in, using a template Meta has approved. Sent, delivered and read statuses come back from Meta as they happen.

Read status appears only when the buyer has read receipts turned on.

  2. Browse

The buyer taps Shop now and browses

The reply opens the shop inside the same chat. Product cards show the price and an Add to cart button, with no website or app to install.

  3. Cart and address

A cart, then a delivery address

Items collect in a cart as the buyer taps. At checkout they send their address through WhatsApp’s address form, or simply type it.

  4. Pay

Pay by link, or cash on delivery

The payment link comes from the seller’s own Razorpay or Cashfree account, so the money goes straight to the seller. UpChatz never holds it. Buyers can choose cash on delivery if the seller offers it.

  5. Seller alert

Marked shipped from the seller’s own WhatsApp

The UpChatz alerts number messages the seller’s personal WhatsApp about the new order. One tap on Mark shipped, and the buyer gets the shipped update in their chat.

04Product

Everything you need to run WhatsApp as a real channel.

Campaigns, reminders, conversations and reporting in one workspace — built around how WhatsApp’s official platform actually works.

Send to thousands without losing the personal touch.

Pick an approved template, choose an audience by tag or list, and fill variables like name, order number or due date from your contact data.

  • Personalised variables, images, documents and buttons
  • Sending is paced to stay inside your Meta messaging limit
  • Estimate of Meta’s charges shown before you confirm
  • Opted-out contacts are skipped automatically

05Sell on WhatsApp

Your shop, inside the chat your buyers already use.

Buyers browse, order and track deliveries on WhatsApp, and pay through a payment link or cash on delivery. You manage orders from the dashboard or straight from your phone.

Select a stepSelect a step to show it on the phones

  1. 01

A buyer sends “hi” to your number and gets your menu. They open a collection and see product cards with prices.

  2. 02

Items go into the cart with a tap. If you connect a Meta catalog, buyers can also shop with WhatsApp’s own cart.

  3. 03

Buyers send their delivery address through WhatsApp’s address form, or simply type it.

  4. 04

Online payments use a UPI or card payment link from your own Razorpay or Cashfree account. Buyers can also choose cash on delivery if you offer it.

  5. 05

Buyers hear when their order is confirmed, packed, shipped and delivered, and can check “My orders” at any time.

  6. 06

New orders reach your personal WhatsApp from the UpChatz alerts number. Tap Mark packed, Mark shipped or Cancel without opening the dashboard.

Step 1 of 6

A buyer sends “hi” to your number and gets your menu. They open a collection and see product cards with prices.

  • Payments go straight to you

Payment links are created on your own Razorpay or Cashfree account, so buyers pay you directly. You add your API keys once; UpChatz never holds buyer money.

  • No website needed

Add products and collections in the dashboard and share your WhatsApp store link. Buyers shop inside the chat.

  • WhatsApp’s catalog, when you want it

You can also sync products to a Meta catalog for WhatsApp’s native shopping view. Meta reviews catalogs and products against its commerce policies, so it may take time to become available.

Showing fact 1 of 3

Shop replies inside the buyer’s 24-hour customer service window are free under Meta’s current pricing. Order updates sent after the window closes use utility templates, which Meta charges to your own WhatsApp Business Account.

06Getting connected

What you need before you connect.

Most businesses finish setup in one sitting. These are Meta’s requirements, laid out plainly so there are no surprises halfway through.

Your phone number

  • Any number your business owns — mobile, landline or toll-free
  • It must be able to receive a one-time code by SMS or voice call
  • It can’t be active on WhatsApp at the same time (see coexistence)
  • One number connects to one WhatsApp Business Account at a time

Already using WhatsApp on it?

  • WhatsApp Business app: keep using the app and connect the same number through Meta’s coexistence feature, where Meta supports it
  • Personal WhatsApp: delete the WhatsApp account on that number first (chat history is lost), then connect
  • Or simply use a different number for customer messaging

Display name

  • This is the business name customers see in WhatsApp
  • It must match or clearly relate to your business or brand
  • Meta reviews it against their display name guidelines
  • You can request a change later if your brand changes

Coming from another provider

  • Your number can be moved to us without changing it
  • Your Meta business verification stays with your business
  • We guide you through the migration step by step
  • Your old provider must release the number first

Do you need Meta business verification?

Not to get started. You can connect and send right away. Verification unlocks higher sending limits and is worth doing once you plan to message your full customer list — UpChatz helps you prepare the documents.

07WhatsApp’s rules, explained

The rules Meta sets — and how we handle them for you.

WhatsApp protects its users from spam with a few clear rules. Understanding them up front saves you from rejected templates, blocked messages and surprise bills.

Rule 1

The 24-hour customer service window

When a customer messages you, a 24-hour window opens. Inside it you can reply with anything — text, images, documents. Once it closes, you can only start a conversation with an approved template. Every new customer message resets the clock.

Rule 2

Every message has a category

Meta categorises templates by purpose, and the category decides what you pay. Choosing the right one matters: Meta can re-categorise a template that doesn’t match its content.

Marketing

Template

Offers, new arrivals, festive sales, event invites, win-back messages

Charged by Meta per delivered message

Utility

Template

Order and delivery updates, payment reminders, appointment confirmations

Charged by Meta, but free inside an open customer service window

Authentication

Template

One-time passcodes for login, sign-up and payment verification

Charged by Meta per delivered message

Service

Free-form reply

Any reply to a customer who messaged you within the last 24 hours

Free under Meta’s current pricing

Showing category 1 of 4

Meta publishes rates per country and updates them periodically. UpChatz shows the current rate for India in your dashboard and estimates the cost of each campaign before you send it.

Rule 3

Customers must opt in

You can only send business-initiated messages to people who agreed to receive them on WhatsApp — through a checkbox at checkout, a website form, a click-to-chat ad or a signed form in store. Bought or scraped lists are not allowed.

How we help: every contact stores its opt-in source and date, and replies like “STOP” opt people out automatically.

Rule 4

Quality affects your limits

Meta gives each number a quality rating based on how customers react. Many blocks or spam reports can lower your sending limit or pause a template. Relevant, expected messages keep the rating high.

How we help: we show each number’s quality rating and warn you early when it starts to drop.

08Use cases

Messages your customers actually want to receive.

WhatsApp works best for timely, useful messages. These are the ones Indian businesses send most — each one a template you can set up in minutes.

10Developers

A clean API on top of Meta’s.

Trigger messages from your store, CRM or billing system. We handle Meta’s tokens, template formats, retries and rate limits, so your code stays short.

  • Send template and free-form messages with one endpoint
  • Create contacts, manage opt-in and tags from your system
  • Signed webhooks for delivered, read, failed and replied events
  • Idempotency keys so retries never send twice
  • Separate test and live API keys per workspace

API access is included on Growth and Pro plans.

11Security & data

Your customers’ data, handled with care.

WhatsApp conversations are personal. We treat access to them that way.

  • You own your WhatsApp account

Your WhatsApp Business Account, number, templates and verification belong to your business in Meta — not to UpChatz. Disconnect us any time and keep everything.

  • Encrypted access tokens

The token Meta issues for your account is encrypted at rest and only used by our servers to send and receive your messages.

  • Verified webhooks

Every event from Meta is checked against its signature before we process it, and all traffic runs over HTTPS.

  • Role-based access

Admins, agents and viewers see only what they need. Agents can be limited to specific numbers.

  • Consent records

Opt-in source and time are stored for each contact, supporting your obligations under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

  • Export and deletion

Export your contacts and message history whenever you like, and ask us to delete your workspace data when you leave.

12FAQ

Questions we hear every week.

Something not covered here? Email [email protected] and a real person will reply within one working day.

No. Any number your business owns that can receive an SMS or voice call works, including landlines. The only rule is that it can’t be active on WhatsApp at the same time — unless you connect a WhatsApp Business app number using coexistence.

In many cases, yes. Meta’s coexistence feature lets a WhatsApp Business app number stay on the app while also being connected to us, with recent chat history synced. It works with the WhatsApp Business app only, not personal WhatsApp, and availability depends on Meta.

Not to start. Unverified businesses can message up to 250 unique customers per day with business-initiated messages, and reply to anyone who messages them. Verifying with documents like a GST certificate unlocks higher limits and more numbers.

Your UpChatz plan, plus Meta’s charges for template messages, which depend on the category (marketing, utility or authentication). Meta’s charges are passed on at cost, and replies inside the 24-hour window are free under Meta’s current pricing. Plan prices exclude 18% GST.

Using the official API is fully allowed, so the risk that comes with QR-code tools doesn’t apply. What can still hurt a number is messaging people who didn’t opt in, which leads to blocks and reports. We require opt-in records, process STOP requests automatically and show your quality rating so you can act early.

Meta reviews templates automatically. Most are approved within minutes; some take up to 24 hours. If one is rejected, we show Meta’s reason so you can edit and resubmit.

Yes — everyone on it who has opted in, within your current Meta messaging limit. Large campaigns are queued and paced automatically, and you see a cost estimate before sending.

Yes. Every plan includes a shared inbox with conversation assignment, internal notes and roles, so your whole team can work from the same WhatsApp number.

Yes, on Growth and Pro. Use our REST API to send messages and manage contacts, and receive signed webhooks for delivery, read, failure and reply events.

Yes. There’s no lock-in on monthly plans, and annual plans simply don’t renew. Because your WhatsApp Business Account belongs to you, you keep your number, templates and verification if you leave.
